Business name: KAILEHUA

In the hawaiian culture, names have a significant meaning and are usually only given with the blessing of a Kupuna (elder) or a Kumu (teacher).

Kalehua is the Hawaiian name I received from my Kumu Haunani Hopkins in 2007. In the Lomilomi Ohana (family) I have been called that ever since.

When I asked Kumu Haunani Hopkins to think about a name for my business she told me that it must have been a Ho'ilona (sign) that I booked my Skype-Account under the name of Kailehua.

The combination of Kailehua (Kai=Ocean; Lehua=Lehua flower) is a symbol for renewal, contineous change and cycle of life.
Absolutely in tune with my vision to meet, touch and move people on their path.

Ka Lehua = The Lehua blossom
The Lehua blossom, which means "Flower sacred to the gods" grow on the Ohia tree, an indigenous tree, which is vital to Hawaii's natural ecosystem. This tree is the first form of life to grow directly out of the hardened black lava and therefore is an essential food source for native birds and bugs.

The Lehua blossom is strong in the Hawaiian Mythology (mythology of the love story of Pele, the fire goddess of Island of Hawaii) and is blessed in chants, hula and prayers. The Lehua blossom is a symbol of the cycle of birth and completion.

Kai = Ocean
The song "Ka Wai Lehua 'A'ala Ka Honua", written by Frank K. Hewitt 1985, talks about the nature cycle of how the rain falls upon the Lehua blossoms and make them fall down into the ocean (kai) and how they gracefully dance with the waves. The rain is well aquainted with the sea, and as the two become one, the cycle is completed.

«Kai: Ocean; Ka Lehua: Lehua flower.
Symbol for renewal, contineous change, simply the whole cycle of life.»
