About me
From the first moment my feet touched Hawaiian ground I felt a strong connection to this ainā (land). The deep affinity with the Hawaiians and their culture made it easy for me to feel quickly at home in the Hawaiian Islands.
I graduated from the Hawaiian Island School of Massage with the Program «Integrated Medical Massage» in 2008 and received the Hawaii State license the same year.
As was very common in earlier times, I was able to apprentice with Kumu Haunani Hopkins. Being an apprentice meant for a Haumāna (student) to live with the Kumu (teacher) and learn hands-on daily all the elements of the traditional Hawaiian healing art.
I'm very grateful Haunani opened her house so that I was able to learn the art of Hawaiian Lomilomi in the old Hawaiian style. With her big heart she showed me what the sharing of Aloha meant in daily life. And of course as is with all old cultures, with an open heart your continually learning on a daily basis.
Since 2006, I have assisted Haunani Hopkins, President of the Hawaiian Lomilomi Association to organize the yearly Lomilomi Conference.
Since 2013, I have been a member of the Board of this Non-profit organization who's goal it is to maintain and perpetuate the Lomilomi, this ancient Hawaiian art of healing.
My sincere gratitude goes to all my Kumu's (teachers), Kupuna's (elders) and the entire Lomilomi Ohana (family) who have touched my heart and supported me on my path.
