Kumu Haunani Hopkins
Kumu (teacher) Haunani Hopkins, born in 1951 in Kahuku, Oahu, Hawaii and has been teaching HaumÄna (students) from all over the world for many years.
She is the owner of Mapuna Wai Ola Center where she practices Hawaiian Lomilomi and shares her mana’o (knowledge, wisdom) through workshops and apprenticeships.
She is the President of the Hawaiian Lomilomi Association and plays a major role in perpetuating the traditional Hawaiian Healing Art in an authentic way, as e.g. with organizing the yearly Lomilomi Conference where Kupuna (elders) from all over the islands meet and share their wisdom and family healing traditions.
Many years ago, Aunty Margaret Machado, Kumu Dane Silva and Maka'ala Yates gave Haunani Hopkins their blessings to teach the knowledge which they had handed down to her.
«My passion is to teach and to support people in their healing process.»
